Halloween

Growing up, I (Becky) was not allowed to celebrate Halloween and my only opportunity to dress up was during high school theatre. Flash forward a few decades and now that I make my own rules, I take the opportunity to dress up as much as possible. Not only have we participated in annual Halloween family costumes or cosplay at conventions, but I still try to find a reason to dress up for any occasion. Whether it's cheering up colleagues during CoVid video chats or arriving at friends' parties in various festive outfits.
I think that is what I love the most about cosplay or creating our products - it's the joy that a costume can represent and the juxtaposition of worlds.
A cat dressed as a witch, a dog dressed as a ghost, or any favorite television character teaming up with a historic hero. Reality and fantasy collide and we embrace the beauty of the intersections with large smiles and for one night (or one convention), the unimaginable team up to create wonderous worlds.
Halloween costumes are put away and we're working on our annual holiday displays. As we craft each display it affords us the opportunity to embrace unlikely combinations. A sledding superhero, a green giant with a sweet tooth, a mermaid lagoon surrounded by snowflakes - anything can be possible in those scenic moments.
